Ramon Barros Luco (1835-1919), president of Chile: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ram%C3%B3n_Barros_Luco

Barros Luco is remembered for his fond enjoyment of the cheesesteak sandwich, a meal on which he dined often; the Chilean version, "the Barros Luco sandwich," is still called by his name. In 1914, Chile was enlarging its ports in anticipation of greatly increased trade, that would be facilitated by opening of the Panama Canal.

Amongst the activites arranged for the shore visit in Sydney by the sailors of the Genera Baquedano during this visit were a couple of boxing matches at the noted boxing venue, the Stadium. The Sydney Morning Herald of Friday 24 July 1931 describes two upcoming bouts at the stadium. Victor Reyes - v- Keith Tange and Hector Villaroel - v - (opponent yet to be named) Maybe the pubilist in this photo is Reyes or Villaroel. [ ref. nla.gov.au/nla.news-article28040530 ]

BobMeade Thanks for the article BobMeade! How fascinating. Though wouldn't it be great if we could establish for certain who this man was? Thank you again for pointing out the article.
