The CIT-9 Safety Plane (X-5665), known as the "Flying Dill Pickle" (or "Dill Pickle") due to its shape and green color. Designed by Albert A. Merrill of the California Institute of Technology, hence the "C.I.T." designation. It was displayed at the 1928 National Air Races at Mines Field (now Los Angeles International Airport, LAX/KLAX). This photo is NOT Henry Borsook. This is Mannie Edward Borsook. The man pictured, M.E. Borsook was a medical doctor in East Los Angeles. The oral history is from a different person than the one pictured here.

The "Date" field doesn't make any sense. Einstein was *born* in 1879 (as the photo title says). [update, much much later] -- I see that this was fixed at some point. Thanks]

Albert Einstein has the best hair out of all of them.

The date is the earliest possible date, given when Einstein was born. Michelson died in 1931, and it's unikely that this was taken before Einstein's relativity was widely accepted after the first world war, so I'd suggest this is most likely to be during the 1920s.
