    The CIT-9 Safety Plane (X-5665), known as the "Flying Dill Pickle" (or "Dill Pickle") due to its shape and green color. Designed by Albert A. Merrill of the California Institute of Technology, hence the "C.I.T." designation. It was displayed at the 1928 National Air Races at Mines Field (now Los Angeles International Airport, LAX/KLAX).
