The ship in the background appears to be the armored cruiser USS New York. Nice shot of the Brooklyn! Hope to see more naval/nautical-themed photos in your collection posted.

My grandfather served on the USS Brooklynn during WW1 and was deployed to Vladivostok, USSR. I have several photo/postcards of the ship and men during his deployment. If there is any interest , I will get some decent scans and upload them.

Too bad she wasn't preserved like (or instead of!) the Olympia...

DaveInTx dave; I am very much interested in any pics of the Brooklyn in WWI, the Vladivostok period was a nearly forgotten end of WWI incident with the arch angel port and the US and others trying to support the Czar in there Revolution. I would like to see any pictures of the Brooklyn especially.
