Striped road uniform not used in 1919. Comiskey had a concrete dugout, but with sharply sloped roof, unlike the Polo Grounds dugout. LOC: I think Pictorial History Committee should re-examine this and the surrounding photos, and check if this one should be redated to 1917.

    Ed was one of the 8 White Sox involved in throwing the 1919 World Series vs Cincy. This was known as the Black Sox Scandal. BTW, the name is pronounced "Suh kah' dee" accent on second syllable. I knew a relative of his, but he pronounce it "See' Kaht" accent on first syllable. He told me that some people with the name pronounce it "See' Koat". Cicotte was a very good pitcher.

    I never read that, but thanks, Elliot. I have read "Eight Men Out" and seen the movie. Algren was one of the greatest Chicago writers, but after "The Man with the Golden Arm," what happened to him? Studs Terkel always spoke highly of him.
