No, again it is Beaufighter this time a Mk IF I think the serial number is R2186, but the last two digits are not possible to read clearly, so a bit of a guess! Stig

I agree with Stig, it is a Bristol Beaufighter not a mosquito and I am a digital artist (living with Motor Neurone Disease which is why I use the computer to manipulate images as I can no longer hold a brush). I used my digital toolkit to enhance the numbers in the shadow under the horizontal tailplane (characteristic of the early marks of Beaufighter), and the number is definitely R2186.

Thanks for the confirmation Rick! Sorry to hear about your illness, but glad that modern tech has made a good difference for you. 👍 I can now also add that the photo was taken at Filton 29 Nov 1940 probably the same day it rolled out from the factory. R2186 had an extremely short life span, delivered to 19 MU (Maintenance Unit) 1 Dec 1940 and sent to FIU (Fighter Interception Unit) 23 Dec 1940 and crashed at Ford 3 Jan 1941.

Permann_20 048 AI Gadgets Album Beaufighter

heavily equipped Beaufighter, with rocket rails and AI radar, two gadgets that decidedly do not go together. Nightfighters didn't use rockets - their use would temporarily blind the crew launching them!
