    George W. Benham (also referred to as Benhem) was Warden of the Auburn State Prison, Auburn, NY, (Dec. 15, 1905 - May 26, 1913). "Benham" is likely the correct spelling. "George W. Benham (1868 - ) He was born at Seneca Falls in 1868, moved to Auburn as a young man. At the age of 18 he entered the County Clerk's Office as a messenger, and was rapidly promoted. In 1896 he was elected County Clerk and served that position until December, 1905, when he was appointed Warden of Auburn Prison." --excerpted Mercantile and Industrial New York Times, April 29, 1913 New York Times, December 7, 1916
