There's a NYTimes mention of Dorothy Lazarus, daughter of Mrs. Florine Lazarus and the late Edward Lazarus, engaged to Jean Cauchois (1893-1962), son of Mr and Mrs Frederic Augustus Cauchois, both families of the Upper West Side, in 1916. They married the following year. They had three children that I can discover: Barbara (1920), Jean Jr. (1921-1994), and Mignon (1923).
  • Wystan said:
Headline should read Lazarus, not Lasarus.
  • Ryan (LOC P&P) said:
Thanks Wystan. We'll correct the spelling in the title the next time we update this record.

Mrs. Aug. Belmont Jr. (LOC)

If Eleanor Robson Belmont is in this photo, I think Bain may have misplaced his "X" - the woman at far left looks more like the photo included in her Wikipedia entry: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eleanor_Robson_Belmont Assuming this was taken ca. 1910, she would have been in her early 30s.
  • The Library of Congress said:
rockcreek: Looks like you are correct. We will make a note of it in the source data and reload the description.
  • rockcreek said:
It may be worth double-checking if the woman at center is Mrs. August Belmont Sr. - perhaps she was still alive at the time? I'm not able to find an image of her online at the moment.

Or might be the wife of the third August Belmont (1882-1919), married in 1906:

    is Mrs August Belmont, III
See Bain photo (with comments) that is probably of her, captioned Mrs. A Belmont, Jr.: Mrs. A. Belmont Jr. (LOC)
