The trials and tribulations of island life as felt by the poor auld cattle. It goes to show that horns on steers had their uses after all. If you can control the animals head you can control the animal! The poor thing must have been terrified?

Seems I read something about this in Tomás Ó Crohan's 'The Islandman' ... brutal, but what else to be done? Why, 'tis enough to curdle a cow's milk for life, and scare the hair of any self respecitng bull.
