[http://www.flickr.com/photos/51979177@N02] Thanks Quasymody, you've prompted me to look at this from another angle. The Sands Directory (via Ancestry.com) has entries for a T.W. Lindsay in Unanderra from 1925 into the 1930s. There is also a 'E.A. Lindsay' and 'J.C.' and 'J.R. Lindsay' listed in the same area. Particularly intrigued by the image in the last article - if only it was a little lighter! Profile seems very much the same... This lovely article goes into detail about the history of the Lindsay family, including Thomas William Lindsay (1864-1941). Would seem to match the age of the gentleman in this pic.

Note that to get to the spot to chop the tree, he has had to cut notches into the tree, place the board he wants to stand on and so on up the 'tree'. A very exciting event to watch.
