On this History page of the SEDOV there is a slide show of contemporary photos of the MAGDALENE VINNEN with accompaniment of a German sea song with accordion - maybe what they sounded like? - www.sts-sedov.info/eng/history/

beachcomber australia ooooh just got to this now. Do you reckon it could be a recording from that time? Perhaps it is worth us contacting them to find out where that sound recording came from! What a record if it is! Love it, thanks so much for pointing us to it.

Australian National Maritime Museum on The Commons No I don't think it is an old recording, but certainly an old song which gives an idea of what a German male chorus with accordion accompaniment sounded like.

so, accordion to you there’s a bit of a theme here?

(not sure if these instruments would have made the nights shorter— or considerably longer!)

bill doyle Bill, I have never heard the accordion played by a professional. It does look like a hard instrument to play, so it would be a nightmare if I played it .. lol. Putting out to you and others.. Can you think of a catchy title other then "Accordion [according] to Me". I am open to changing the title for something more appropriate..
