One of the interesting things about this shot is that you can just make out the fallen flagpole from which the "Irish Republic" flag flew - it's on the near top corner of the GPO. (At least, that's what I read somewhere years ago!)

Carmody's Established 1804 on the right with its wonderful iron balcony seems to have gone - boo hoo! Terrific photo - I keep thinking that my grandparents, who were born around 1890 and lived locally, would have known Ennis looking just like this.
