Hi, I'm an admin for a group called Jewish People and History - Ancient and Modern, and we'd love to have this added to the group!

A shabbily dressed man probably exhausted from working at a sweatshop. He no doubt lived in a crowded tenement, so he's better off resting on a park bench.

Bearded young Jewish worker napping. Definitely a fave. I just wish the Yom Kippur collection this came from had a lot more candid photos like this.

Hi everyone...Can i draw this photo?

HARWELL TEVES, The Library of Congress is not in a position to grant or deny permission to use images from the collections, because it doesn't own rights to the images. The images we put up in Flickr are those designated "No known restrictions on publication," which is the best we can say, meaning that the items have no donor restrictions and we know of no copyright restrictions on the items. However, privacy and publicity rights may apply. Users of the images, however, must assess the risks for their purposes, keeping in mind the types of restrictions that can come into play in addition to copyright and donor restrictions: privacy rights, publicity rights, licensing and trademarks. For more information about reproducing, publishing, and citing material from this collection, as well as access to the original items, see: www.loc.gov/rr/print/res/274_bain.html.

The camera is a Press Graflex (see pg 27 of the 1914 Graflex catalog). Price adjusted for inflation would be about $4000 of today's dollars. Careful, children!

Ross: Thank you for identifying the camera. We are always glad to get information about the cameras in some of these photos. We will add more details when we update the description.

National Democratic Convention, at the Fifth Regiment Armory in Baltimore, MD, June 25-July 2, 1912. The convention that nominated President-to-be Woodrow Wilson. H. L. Mencken, a Baltimore native, covered this convention for his newspaper, the Baltimore Sun.

Wicked! I love old photos like this!

looks like it's baltimore in 1901.

No, it's 1912.
