Bob Mockler was the Dublin Captain on the day. I was at Croke Park yesterday - still very disappointed by the result.

Mockler Played for Tipperary in his early career and Dublin later on. Note it was a Seventeen man game then!!!. We have come across Mr Mockler before. Robert "Bob" Mockler (born 1885) was an Irish hurler who played as a midfielder for the Tipperary and Dublin senior teams from 1909 until 1924. Mockler made his first appearance for the Tipperary team during the 1908 championship and was a regular member of the starting seventeen for the next few seasons. He subsequently enjoyed a decade long career with Dublin before retiring from the game after the 1924 championship. During that time he won three All-Ireland medals, five Leinster medals and one Munster medal.[1] Mockler captained Dublin to the All-Ireland title in 1920. And well it might be a big "kerching"! Not too often you would be in a position to identify each member of a photograph from the '30's. Interesting looking at the siblings, the man and two outside ladies have very distinctive nose, mouths and lips shape and quite different to the other perhaps younger lady! They are very handsome and beautifully attired. Like Subpopulus Hibernia I love the impact of the flowers and foliage on the image!

The woman sitting on the chair is my great great grandaunt Honora Kavanagh nee Butler (19-05-1869 - 21-12-1941), sitting next to her is her husband Martin Kavanagh (1869 - 10-06-1949). Standing from left to right are their four children: Mary Ellen Kavanagh (1909 - ?) Tobias Kavanagh (1907 - 27-11-1984) Rosey Kavanagh (1905 - ?) Bridget Kavanagh (1906 - ?) Martin and Honora were both school teachers and they lived in Raheenduff, The Rower, Kilkenny.
