American Soldiers in Europe

I believe the soldiers are British. Their Short Magazine Lee-Enfield (British) rifles are carried in the British manner on the left shoulder. The peaked cap would not have been worn by enlisted men in the American Expeditionary Force (AEF). On the shoulder straps of several of the soldiers, one can identify (but not read) the British regimental identification.
