According to NYT of October 2, 1913, query.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=9B04EED7163DE633A... Sapper O'Neill and Young Fox were British boxers and George McDonald their manager. McDonald and O'Neill had arrived the day before. Young Fox was expected a couple of weeks later.

Dal Hawkins appears to be an ex-boxer by 1914. See boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=10974&cat=boxer NYT of Oct 29, 1914 query.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=F70D16F73F5A15738... suggests that he had a training facility for boxers "on the Westchester Road."

[This photo is from the Bain News Agency's January 1914 photostream, posted on Flickr by the Library of Congress.] New York Times story, January 1, 1914: "Sapper O'Neill, the English lightweight, who sprang into popular favor recently by his clever work against Fred Halsband at the Atlantic Garden Athletic Club, will oppose Johnny Harvey, one of the most rugged of New York's army of 133-pounders. Another English boy, Young Fox, will get a chance in the semi-final against Kid Herman of Pekin, Ill. Fox recently made a most favorable debut against Joe Mooney at Madison Square Garden." [In military terminology, a Sapper is a combat engineer, who accompanies the frontline troops into battle. Primary among his duties is the disarming of unexploded bombs. Perhaps Sapper O'Neill received his nickname during previous Army service?]
