Looks like (by the dates) this photo was probably taken in the UK - quite possibly at Lamb House, Rye, East Sussex - a house that James lived in from 1897 until his death, only visiting the US briefly in 1905. Lamb House was subsequently owned by E. F. Benson the author of the Mapp & Lucia books.
