This should be true of all things from trees to rocks.

I really wish I could find out if the tree was able to retain ownership of itself! - looked at the links in the description of picture and it seems to have been a kind of joke in the 1800s; tree was allowed to live but was killed by a storm in 1900s, however local group planted an acorn from tree and take care of it. Also seems the tree is owned "by the heir of the tree that owns itself" or something legal like that. :)

Wonderful photo. Two veterans of the American Civil War, flying together over the Gettysburg battlefield they fought upon and against each other, 73 years after the conflict ended. Our surviving veterans of the Second World War are almost at the same point in time. I noticed Mr. William H. Jackson's name is provided in the caption with the photo, but not the name of the other veteran. It would seem that has been lost somewhere in the shuffle. Does the Library of Congress have a record of the other veteran's name? Some minutia concerning the photo. These veterans are flying in the rear starboard side of the passenger cabin of a Boeing 247D airliner, belonging to Pennsylvania Central Airlines (PCA).

This is nothing short of amazing.

Poignant moment captured here. To think they experienced the American Civil War, and lived to see the Spanish-American, WWI and on the verge of WWII.

Pretty darn cool.
