    How do you get an unofficial post office? Surely to have had mail delivered you would have to be official?

    Ferret68 It's great to connect people with thier past. Any chance your family has a photograph of the hotel in the time your family owned it?

    Augustine Mathews I think that the 'unofficial Post Office' means that any mail for settlers in that area was dropped off at the hotel for them to collect. Things were pretty rough and ready in early Queensland!
