Dr. Finley is Dr. John H. Finley, President of the College of the City of New York. Weston is Edward Payson Weston, noted pedestrian, about to walk from NYC to Chicago. This was taken on Monday June 2, 1913. "Edward Payson Weston, America's famous long-distance pedestrian..." Veteran walker Mr. Weston was setting off from the plaza of the College of the City of New York (139th street) at noon for a walk to Chicago - a distance of 999 miles. He reckoned to make 25 miles per day. Here is the link to the relevant New York Times article of Sunday June 1, 1913: query.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=9404EEDA143FE633A... Remarkably, Mr. Weston covered the New York City to Chicago walk over 36 waling daysin 1909. Here is his wikipedia entry which encapsulates his pedestrian career, he lived 1839 - 1929: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_Payson_Weston
