Name appears to be F. H. Monroe from the pencil on the back?

Whilst I am a fan of John Wayne's film acting, to describe him as being "dressed in full military uniform" has some slight controversy and slight inaccuracy attached to it, due to his actual lack of service in the military during World War II. In 1943, a few days prior to Christmas, a Hollywood star arrived in wartime Brisbane. The actor John Wayne, most noted for his roles in Hollywood westerns, such as Stagecoach and The Big Trail, traveled to Australia with an accordion player and singer Vikki Montan. "I never knew there was so much water in the world till we crossed that great Pacific," he remarked on his voyage out. As fellow actor Gary Cooper had done a month earlier, Wayne was in Australia to entertain American troops. Wayne told reporters his stage performance for the tour was not overplanned - "I'm here to entertain the troops. I have no special act but hope to get by on appearances." July 1940 in Brisbane alone there were six different organisations providing women with war-related training, the largest of which was the Queensland-based Women's National Emergency Legion. The federal government and military did not initially support women being trained to serve in the armed forces, however, and these organisations were not taken seriously by the general public. Many of these women were trained to undertake skilled work in traditionally male occupations in order to free servicemen for operational service. Women were also encouraged to work in industry and volunteer for air raid precautions duties or clubs for Australian and Allied servicemen.
