The remains of 1st Lieut. Quentin Roosevelt, 95th Aero Squadron, by his Nieuport 28 N6177 '14' on July 14, 1918. The taking and circulating of this photograph earned the German high command much criticism, and its propaganda value backfired, as many German soldiers were impressed that the son of a former American president would put his life on the line for his country as Roosevelt had done.
