William Cumbrae-Stewart (1865–1938), Professor of Law, and Queensland Historian. Cumbrae-Stewart was appointed foundational Registrar and Librarian of the University of Queensland in 1910. In 1922 he was awarded a Doctor of Civil Law from Oxford for the thesis, “Action Pauliana; its origin development and nature.” In January 1926 Cumbrae-Stewart became Garrick Professor of Law, laying the foundation for the full faculty that was set up when he retired in 1936. Although not a well-published researcher, Cumbrae-Stewart was an important contributor to the discipline of Queensland history. In1925 he became a founder and the President of the (Royal) Historical Society of Queensland as well as the editor of the Society’s journal. Hal Chase seems to be the only person involved in baseball in the early part of the 20th Century who wasn't butt ugly.

I believe that this is Hal Chase when he was with the New York Highlanders who later became known as the Yankees. Chase later played for the NY Giants, which could lead to confusion. As for Wallace, he is representing the team known as the St. Louis Browns who later moved to Baltimore to become the Orioles.

According to Jimmy Austin in The Glory of Their Times, Chase was a real jerk, and was made manager this year after he complained to the owners and ran off the previous one. (That might explain the friendly look on Wallace's face.) Said Austin: "Well, you know how good a manager Hal Chase was: so good that he took over a club that finished second in 1910 and took them straight to sixth place in 1911. And the year after that they wound up last."

The Browns played in St. Louis through the 1953 season, moving to Baltimore in 1954. . .The Browns won their only AL pennant in 1944 when they played in the last World Series in which ALL of the games were played in the same ballpark. The Cardinals and Browns shared Sportsmans Park in St. Louis. The Cardinals won the NL pennant in 1944 and beat the Browns in 6 games in the '44 World Series.
