This is pretty amazing - a photo of women preparing to demonstrate in a parade, petitioning for the right to vote. Almost 100 years later we now have a woman running for the office of President.

The leading suffregette in NYC at this period was Fannie Garrison Villard who I suspect this is in the photo.

Frank G1: Thanks for your information. As you said, the woman second from the right could possibly be Frances Garrison Villard (1844-1928). These women and girls were possibly on their way to march in a parade that took place on Saturday, May 4, 1912 and started from Washington Square in New York City, according to the NY Times article, "Sufferage Army Out On Parade." According to the paper, "Promptly, at five o'clock . . . the order to start the parade came." Over a thousand men marched in the parade alongside the women.

Might be 1914 given the label on the side.

@gauzy_dress: that label is a Bain serial number, not a date. Other photos on both sides of this one in the sequence are from 1913.
