It's "Vossevangen", not Vossegangen. It even says so on the picture.

Who would believe that this town is actually the origin of Voss water :P ?

  • jonhl said:
Actually, the Voss water doesn't come from Voss - it comes from an even smaller place called Vatnestraum, not far from Kristiansand in the south of Norway. Until recently, the inhabitants of Vatnestraum had exactly the same water to use in their showers and toilets. I guess they chose the name "Voss" because "Vatnestraum" might not be a perfect international brand name.

Voss is not along the Hardanger fjord. It is situated on the shore of the lake called Vangsvatnet.

@ LOC: Is there a typo in the title? (see comment #1)

Framnaes Hotel & lake [Norway] (LOC)

  • jonhl said:
Norwegian modern spelling "Oppheimsvannet" or "Oppheimsvatnet". On Google Maps spelt "Uppeimsvatnet". This is a lake in the mountains on the way from Voss over to Sogn, and it's not really close to the Hardangerfjord.
  • Arild Finne Nybø said:
Belongs to Voss kommune (municipality), and is as vyxir says closer to Sognefjorden (The Sognefjord) and its arm Nærøyfjorden (The Naeroey fjord).
  • The Library of Congress said:
vyxir and arnybo, thank you for this information! We will correct the source data and reload the description.

Vinje hotell is still here, but Hardangerfjord was never here. Here we are at Voss, near the descending to Sognefjorden.
  • Pixel Wrangler said:
The Vinje Hotel was built in 1876, and was one of the first hotels in the Swiss and dragon style. It currently (2010) has 46 rooms and features a "large beautiful traditional Norwegian dining room". There also are 10 cabins on the property. [1] [2] Google Street View (2009)

Pixel Wrangler: Thanks for giving us more information about the hotel. We'll include some of it next time we update the description
