As a Cal football player, the "Dread of Stanford" blocked a punt for a safety to give the Bears a 2-0 win in the 1901 Big Game. He later threw a Game 5 shutout to seal the Cubs' last championship in 1908. Hats off to the first Golden Bear in the majors! www.baseball-reference.com/o/overaor01.shtml
