    Aviator, balloonist, and aeronautical engineer Ralph Hazlett Upson (b. 1888 - d. 1968). His career spanned from flying in balloon races, including winning the Gordon Bennett Cup (with R.A.D. Preston as his co-pilot) in the 1913 International Balloon Races, as well as winning the 1913, 1919, and 1921 National Balloon Races, to working on the still-born X-20 Dyna-Soar orbital space glider program in the 1960s. Upson, of New Milford, gave during the evening some stirring war recitations that were warmly applauded," according to a page 7 article in the September 25, 1889, Indianapolis Journal.
