    Portadown News - Saturday 29 November 1913 quoted the slogan in the picture in connection with Jim Larkin on his release from prison in 1913. It was already a "well-worn" phrase then.
    Mr Larkin, when he left Dublin after being released from prison, said he was going to raise the fiery cross and rally workers in other parts of the kingdom to the support of the Dublin strikers. The manifesto which he has addressed to the British workers is his fiery cross. It remains to be seen what response will be made to it. Mr. Larkin seems to be rather doubtful about the leaders at any rate, and makes his appeal to the rank and file. He says the leaders have come short of the gospel of human brotherhood, which is the spirit of trade unionism, and is embodied in "a well-worn phrase, 'An injury to the one is the concern of all.'" He claims on behalf of the workers generally "that you meant and still mean to put your whole body and soul into this fight in Dublin, and if your leaders have not, up to now, realised the vital issue at stake, you, O men of toil, do understand, and understanding are prepared to act."

    Of course, the dog was shy and hid its head. When I take photos of my black Labrador, he becomes a diva or a fussy Model. Considering the photographic technology and lens technology was not as sophisticated as it is today, this is an excellent capture of a moment in time. I wonder what the Irish boots looked like. In Australia R.M. Williams is the most famous brand and I have had a pair since 2001 and liked them so much bought a second pair.
