The picture shows the Martin TT Biplane, which can (easily) be identified by the extra two front wheels mounted on the skids ("anti-noseover") and the ailerons mounted between the wings. Late production machines were fitted with ailerons on the wings and also different engines were fitted. Relatively few machines (ca. 10) were built before 1914 for the Aeronautical Division of the United States Army Signal Corps.

Donald Baxter MacMillan, 1874-1970 This photo was possibly taken right before he left for his 1913 Greenland exhibition, the first one that he led. How Stuff Works page - history.howstuffworks.com/polar-history/d-b-macmillan.htm From the thumbnail it looked a little like he was wearing a chicken suit.
