For those living outside of Sydney, "2CH" is a well-known radio station in Sydney (now known as "MAGIC 2CH" -- 1170 on your dial ;) 2CH began broadcasting in 1932. The NSW Council of Churches was its license holder until it was sold to John Singleton in 1994. The CH stands for "Churches". The Council continues to have a significant input in the format of the station. Like many radio stations in large cities, 2CH "sponsored" and/or promoted many different activities for it's listening audience, including dinners such as the one in this photograph, Christmas parties for children, and other activities throughout the year. Many of the events were held at the Trocadero -- or "The Troc". The Sydney Trocadero was a large art deco dance and concert hall that operated between 1936 and 1971 in Sydney. It was the main venue of Big Band jazz orchestras, with the resident Trocadero Orchestra under the baton of Frank Coughlan, and the All Girl Trocadero Band. –Excerpted from Wikipedia [1] [2]
