On the right hand side is one of those fences with the bent posts. When were they invented ?

The more I look at this photo, the more curious it seems. It looks rather too crowded to be an ordinary Saturday afternoon, the whole of Junee must be there. But it doesn't look like any kind of swimming carnival or school sports day. And it doesn't look like an unusual 45 degree day, the adults in the foreground seem to be rather overdressed for a heat wave.
