Sulzer and Mayor Gaynor On his right were Adjt Gen Hamilton and Mgr Lavelle. Seated in the front row were Mgr. McGean, Commissioner Edwards of the Department of Street Cleaning, Police Commissioner Waldo and Mgr. James Mooney." Although this particular photograph does not precisely reflect the seating order in that reporter's account.

The parade, scheduled for two p.m., started an hour late and ran for a full two hours. The mayor and the cardinal kept their seats during the entire time.     This appears to be truck or bus disguised as a tram as part of the cigarette companies advertising programme. In the Irish Photographic Archive there are numerous examples of the tram and it was used in the St. Patricks Day parade over a number of years. The Lord Mayor happily posed on the tram at that time and thus demonstrates how times have changed! Here is a link to the Archive!
