This is not a part of Hardangerfjord. The road between Voss and Stalheim continues down the Naeroydalen valley and ends in Gudvangen. This is where Naeroyfjord starts (UNESCO World Heritage). Naeroyfjord is a branch of the longest fjord in Norway, Sognefjord (204 km long). Check out www.naeroyfjord.com

This valley ("-dalen") is by the Sognefjord, not Hardangerfjord. The view is Nærøydalen (old spelling: Nærødalen) looking from the county of Hordaland into the county of Sogn & Fjordane. Together with famous Nærøyfjord, an arm of Sognefjord, the area today is protected by UNESCO’s World Heritage List.

The current hotel is the fourth hotel to be built at Stalheim. the first was built 1885 and the three hotels preceeding the current one were all destroyed by fire.
