If so, his mother is the former Madeleine de Kerchove de Denterghem d'Exaerde 1882-1966 NYT of September 19, 1915 select.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=F50816FA385B1773... reports that she and her husband had become separated in Belgium some months before. Having discovered where the other was, they missed each other crossing the Atlantic!!
