It is a very candid shot, isn't it?
  • Sylvain Francois said:
It is indeed, like any parents would take of their children in their garden. Although I guess personal cameras were not that common in ca. 1900!
  • Provincial Archives of Alberta said:
Not very common at all. People who did have cameras at that time usually ended up being unofficial town photographers so their collections of photos are valuable for documenting the communities in which they lived.

Brebner children on a train

  • oaktree_brian_1976 said:
CN was founded in 1918, so it's after that date.
  • Provincial Archives of Alberta said:
Hmmm....perhaps it is actually a Canadian Northern train, then. We know the ages of the children and there is no way that this photo was taken after 1918, when they would have been adults.

Provincial Archives of Alberta probably is CNoR (Canadian Northern), they did have a line thru Winnipeg

Provincial Archives of Alberta I had it restored over on Wikipedia. Window was removed as it was too hard to guesstimate what it looked like. www.flickr.com/photos/66151649@N02/28716494183/in/datepos...
