Jeremiah C. Lynch, an American formerly of New York who went to Ireland and was sentenced to be shot for complicity in the Dublin insurrection (detail of this photo in The sun., May 19, 1916, Image 1, see also NYT, May 19, 1916). His life was spared on the plea of President Wilson (NYT, May 21, 1916).
