We appreciate your interest in the image of the Walcott family at "Olmsted," Provo, UT. Secretary Walcott sadly lost two of his sons at an early age. Charles Doolittle Walcott, Jr. died of tuberculosis on April 7, 1913 while a student at Yale. Benjamin Stuart Walcott was killed in action in France on December 12, 1917 while flying for the Lafayette Flying Corps. A brief biographical sketch for Secretary Charles Doolittle Walcott is included in the finding aid for the Charles D. Walcott Collection,1851-1940 and undated (Record Unit 7004) avialable at [http://siarchives.si.edu/findingaids/FARU7004.htm.]
