I was a sea cadet on STD SNAPPER ISLAND from 1964 to 1968 we rowed 32 foot whalers we sailed them we beat the navy sailing them ..... trained in sailing 6 foot beamys clingers ,...... modif .303 enfields with .22 bore shooting on the port waste ......comps at HMAS Watson rifle shooting ....class instruction in seamanship ...... gym sports ....... weekend camps on the Island ..... relaxing in lounge area watching T.V. black and while only back on these days ........cooking ..... rifle drill ..... close quarters drill ....... weekend stays on different H.M . ships and bases .... working along side our commanding officer LEONARD E FORSYTHE showing us the way how to perform our duty the way he wants us to the letter . ..... just short note in some picture by the harbour trust saying ....... slipway and sheds ....... these so called sheds were in naval talk the heads meaning the dunny ( toliets and showers ) showers were run by a naked flame chip heater which you had to light yourself and water coming from the water tower above
