Pretty likely a shot of the Carlisle Indian Industrial School en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carlisle_Indian_Industrial_School "The so-called “noble experiment” was a failed attempt to forcibly assimilate Native American children into the culture of the United States. The United States Army War College now occupies the site of the former school."

This photo is a little time capsule.

The few photos we put up are actually part of a larger collection of showing the retail areas in Hartlepool such as Lynn Street, Musgrave Street, Burbank taken by a photographer called John Boagey in the 1960s. They're a fantastic collection to show how that particular part of Hartlepool looked prior to the demolition or change of many of these streets. Interesting to see how many shopping streets there were prior Middleton Grange Shopping Centre.

These streets would have provided a far more intersting alternative shopping experience today if they had been saved. One could imagine thriving street cafes, craft shops, boutiques,specialist hobby shops etc.

POOLEWP 3250 is a similar shopfront commissioned by Mr. O'Shea of George's St., presumably his shop on the Quay.
