The New York Times  November 11, 1918 "Several thousand persons went to Seward Park yesterday morning to attend the opening of the attractive new canteen hut for soldiers and sailors by the Jewish Welfare Board. There was speech-making and music. Former Ambassador Abram I. Elkus presided at the excercises and Jacob H. Schiff was the principal speaker."  [more]
