Inscription from photo studio Sandau is dated 1916.
"Ernest Augustus (Ernest Augustus Christian George; German: Ernst August Christian Georg; 17 November 1887 – 30 January 1953), reigning Duke of Brunswick (2 November 1913 – 8 November 1918)"
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ernest_Augustus,_Duke_of_Brunswick
"Victoria Louise of Prussia (Viktoria Luise Adelheid Mathilde Charlotte; 13 September 1892 – 11 December 1980) was the only daughter and the last child of German Emperor Wilhelm II and Augusta Victoria of Schleswig-Holstein. She was a great-granddaughter of Queen Victoria through her father. Her 1913 marriage to Prince Ernest Augustus of Hanover was the largest gathering of reigning monarchs in Germany since German unification in 1871, and one of the last great social events of European royalty before the First World War began fourteen months later. Shortly after the wedding, she became the Duchess of Brunswick by marriage."

rjones0856: Thanks for the information and date. The original photograph that was copied by the Nain News Service was copyrighted in 1913 by Sandau of Berlin. We can add that information to the description when we update it.

LOC -- in the original "auf Deutsch" caption to this photo, the prince's name is spelled "August," not "Auguste." Brett -- you have inadvertently spelled "Bain" as "Nain".

Wystan, Thanks for your comment. We will be updating the record to reflect that this couple should be identified as Ernst August and Viktoria Luise.
