Wondering if this might not be one of Mr Ball's photos? The children in these related(?) photos look much more recent than 1909 ...

I wonder where the workshop was. Wikipedia says: Irish Lights has moved its headquarters from Dublin to a purpose-built new building in Harbour Road, Dún Laoghaire., and this would be recent.

Hmm, that building does not look old enough for this shot: 2009 streetview

beachcomber australia Losely speaking Rue Point is on Rathlin Island, broadly 5km north'ish from Ballycastle which seems to have a 9km ferry route to to the port on the Island which is some distance from the light. The Historic Environment Map Viewer for NI Dept4Communities gives a listed buildings id of HB05/16/022 (as does Wikidata) and grade B1. The viewer also gives a reference IHR 03711:000:00 some 50m to the west but I'm unclear if that was an earlier build or a data/precision anomaly). Straw Island is part of the Aran Islands off Galway and the lighthouse is given Irish National Inventory of Architectural Heritage ID 30411125 and located here on the Ireland Historical Monument viewer The photo was likely taken in the Dún Laoghaire workshops.
