    These are all so staged and everyone dressed as lady-like as possible. But the image of women standing around like men on shiftwork must have been shockingly new to anyone seeing it in the 40's. Even today you don't see this kind of swagger shown by women in mixed workforces.

    The manual the woman is holding appears to have a German title. A-20B Data IV. VORDERKUNZ (?) (forward post?) It may be an obsolete technical word. Her left index finger is badly bruised and bandaged. The man is wearing an Auxiliary Police badge. There's probably a story here.

    Aircraft is a Curtiss SNC-1. Is it possible the title is a misprint? Could the first name be "Ovida" rather than "Oyida"? Never heard of the latter - but maybe I don't get around much ;-)
