Billie Burke was something of a sex-symbol of the time, judging from the lyrics of the song "Take Your Girlie to the Movies":
"Though she's just a simple little ribbon clerk,
Close your eyes and think you're kissing Billie Burke"
The Broadway show "The Amazons" is listed as being 1913. A film version of the play came out in 1917 staring Marguerite Clark. -
