  A fine family group. I suspect that the man on the right is a naval Petty Officer and not a civilian.

  The sailor on the left has a badge on his right arm that looks like it could be a Royal Navy physical trainer badge 2nd class which was a pair of crossed clubs with a star above and a star below. Swordscookie I think you are right about the officer on the right not being a civilian. Its difficult to see exactly whats on his collar badge but it looks like two crossed guns with a star above which would indicate a gunlayer, if they are crossed torpedos that would indicate a leading torpedo man. I believe the stripes on the right sleeves of both mens uniforms indicate overseas service, one stripe for each 12 months.

  Those were the days when it was safe for royalty to drive safely through a city in an open top car......not a bullet proof one as they do today.
