Hi, I'm an admin for a group called "I Love Oklahoma", and we'd love to have this added to the group!

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the Tulsa Mid-Continent refinery is now the Sun Oil refinery. My graddad (I'll call him my dad since he and my grandmother Margaret raised my sister and me), Rusty Morton worked there for many years, retiring in 1982. As a matter of fact, I'm packing up to move from my home in Blaine, WA on Puget Sound, and my granddad's Sunray DX hard hat is in there on the kitchen counter.

Mike, The Mid-Continent Refinery in Tulsa was changed to Sun Oil Company, then Sunray DX. It was sold a couple years ago to HollyFrontier and is still being operated. HollyFrontier also bought the Sinclair Refinery at the same time. They completed an underground network to move products back and forth under the interstate and community last year. Queensland Alumina Limited (QAL) is one of the largest alumina refineries by alumina production capacity in the world,[1][2] located in Parsons Point, Gladstone, Queensland, Australia. The refinery was planned in 1964[3] and has been operating since 1967,[4] the refinery has the capacity to produce 3.95 million tonnes of alumina a year. In 1981 the output was at a quarterly basis over 600,000 tonnes per quarter.[5] At times of lower demand, operations have been altered.[6][7] Subsequent rises in demand have seen an expansion in output and employment.[8] QAL has been operated by a range of consortium partners of international aluminum producers over time. Comalco was brought into the consortium in 1969.[9] In 1982 it was owned by Comalco (30.3%), Kaiser Aluminum (28.3%), Alcan (21.4%), and Pechiney Ugine Kuhlmann (20%).[10] Since April 2005, it has been owned by Rio Tinto Alcan (80%) and Rusal (20%).[11] In September 2017 the QAL celebrated 50 years of operation.
