  The machine on the picture is a design of Giuseppe Bellanca , actually his third design - a parasol wing construction - dating from the fall 1911, built in New York. The machine was used as a trainer, that is the trainee was in the plane actually flying and the instructor was on the ground (!), as the machine was a single seat one. A pupil became later very famous, Fiorella H. LaGuardia in later times the mayor of New York. Reference: Spencer, Jay P. 1982. Bellanca C.F. The emergence of the cabin monoplane in the United States.
