    Yup, one of the breaks from square dances. The handkerchief was a necessity if you didn't want to drip sweat continuously. Stick it totally in the pocket and it would just stay damp - this allowed a little evaporation and less smell!

    he could of been using the handkerchief ( the one in the hand ) to wipe blood from a fight he had been in , back in those days and those places you had to be polite and respect other people's clothes , shoes , wallpaper ,etc. he probably just changed someone's attitude and maybe a lesson in etiquette. ( just maybe )
