  There, it says that Barnard enlisted in Oakham and was killed in action during the third Battle of the Scarpe.

  It appears Elton seems to move back and forth between counties during Walters lifetime.
  
  On the 1891 census the 1 year old Walter, (born Elton, Huntingdonshire), was recorded at Station Road, Elton, Northamptonshire. This was the household of his parents, John H, (aged 29 and a Farm Labourer from Elton, Hunts.) and Mary W, (aged 28 and from ???(illegible), Leicestershire).
  
  By the time of the 1901 census the family are living at Jelleys Yard, Middle Street, Elton, Huntingdonshire.
  Father John Henry, (39) is now working as a Gardener - not domestic. Walter is their only child living with them.
  
  When it comes to the 1911 census, the 21 year old Walter, now a Domestic Gardener, is recorded living with other gardeners as a servant at The Gardeners Lodge, Aston Hall, Weston Road, Aston on Trent, Near Derby. His parents were still living at Elton, (now described as Elton, Peterborough), although no specific address is given. By this stage they have been married 22 years and have had 2 children, both then still alive. The second is the 4 year old David Henry, born Elton, Huntingdonshire. It looks like the mothers first names are Mary Waite, but her birthplace still eludes me.
  
  Walter is remembered on the Elton War Memorial.
