"One of Sarony's portraits of writer Oscar Wilde became the subject of a U.S. Supreme Court case, Burrow-Giles Lithographic Co. v. Sarony 111 U.S. 53 (1884), in which the Court upheld the extension of copyright protection to photographs. Sarony sued Burrow-Giles after it used unauthorized lithographs of Oscar Wilde No. 18 in an advertisement, and won a judgment for $610 (the modern equivalent of just over $12,000) that was affirmed on appeal by the Second Circuit Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court. Sarony later photographed the Supreme Court itself, to celebrate the centennial of the federal judiciary in 1890.[3][5]"

This was Wilde early in his career, he had published a book of poetry but not yet any plays.

The Austin/Morris Mini Mk II (see note) was released at the October 1967 British Motor Show. Which means this photo is late in 1967. Edit - Wrong! It is a mark I mini YZA 855 - catalogue.nli.ie/Record/vtls000048466 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mini#Mark_II_Mini:_1967.E2.80.931970 We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the cars stars.

I note that the swan necked lamp posts which we have discussed many times in dating pics of College Green and environs survive on Merrion Square to this day.

The building at left (distance) seems to say Gaeltachta on it, and in larger writing NN.
